The recently refurbished King’s Head is an absolute delight for people of all ages, with careful consideration for families and high quality food taking centre stage. Licensees David and Pam Watts make children of all ages welcome and it is their attention to detail that makes this place so perfect.
The spacious garden echoes with the sound of children rushing through the willow walk tunnel and whooping with delight as they fight imaginary enemies off the ramparts off the specially designed ‘castle’. Toddlers can pedal furiously around the garden on tiny trikes or watch in wonder while a conjurer performs a magic show – live entertainment is a regular feature here. Meanwhile, parents can relax with a drink or a meal while the children amuse themselves in safety.
The pub’s menus, which saw processed chicken nuggets and fish fingers barred long ago, will certainly impress parents that care about what their children eat and appreciate good food themselves.
Perfect Family Pub judge Philippa Forrester was in no doubt about the suitability of the pub for children, not just because of the play equipment but also the care and attention that went into the menu. She said, “The King’s Head has got to be the winner – it really is an inviting place for families. There’s plenty of space, the castle in the garden and all the other fun things for kids to do have been so well considered. The menu is lovely and has been carefully thought through – they even offer gluten-free food. Overall, it is a great place for all the family – not just the kids!”
The Watts avidly support local suppliers and are keen to keep the food miles low – Coles of King’s Lynn provides the fish, Graves of Briston the meat and the vegetables come from Karamanda’s in North Walsham.
