The Angel has been setting standards for over 20 years that most other pubs do not even aspire to. And it is still setting impeccable ideals. It should be a must visit pub for any visitor to the Yorkshire Dales. And it is with good reason that it has won a hatful of awards.
Off the B6265 a few miles north of Skipton, The Angel was once a humble crofter's
cottage brewing beer for passing cattle drovers. Today its aspirations are
so much higher.
It offers British food at its near perfect best. The style of it is modern
British, reflecting British origins but influenced by the cultures and cuisine
of many countries, not least France and Italy. Wherever possible, raw products
are sourced locally, pork and lamb from the Dales, sausages and cheese from
Lancashire. Fish is delivered daily from Fleetwood.
There is a choice of restaurant or brasserie menus, and the early bird menu
is worth trying but remember to book because the fame of this place is worldwide.
The interior is 600 years' worth of nooks, crannies and oak beams and log fires
in the winter. In the summer you can dine outside on the flagged forecourt
overlooking Cracoe Fell. And as The Angel Inn now holds a civil wedding licence
it is possible to have a wedding breakfast, get married, hold a reception and
have a honeymoon all in the same place.
